Editorial Report

The journal Asian Broadcasting & New Media Research was founded in July 1992 and is hosted by the Department of Radio and Television at National Chengchi University. It is currently published biannually, aiming to encourage innovative research in broadcasting, new media, and technology, and to provide a platform for academic dialogue and exchange within the Asian communication research community.

The journal seeks original and timely research articles that systematically analyze innovative trends in electronic media and digital communication, aiming to promote academic knowledge development and address practical issues. Contributions employing different research methodologies for theoretical or empirical studies are welcome, exploring diverse themes such as audience reception, new media technologies, society, psychology, culture, politics, economics, and policy. Cross-disciplinary research papers in both English and Chinese are encouraged.

Since receiving the "Taiwan Academic Resources Influence" award from the National Central Library in 2020, Journal of Audio-visual Meida and Technologies has consecutively ranked third in the Communication Field for the Long-Term Knowledge Communication Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022, and fifth in the Journal Instant Communication Award in the Communication Field in 2020.

In late 2019, under the editorship of Professor Trisha T.-C. Lin, the journal underwent repositioning and website redesign, changing its English name to Journal of Audio-visual Meida and Technologies to underscore the importance of new media technology. It also expanded its editorial team with domestic and international communication scholars and began openly accepting submissions of papers in both English and Chinese. The revamped website was launched in February 2020.

In late 2023, the journal was renamed Asian Broadcasting & New Media Research, and in May 2024, a new website and automated submission and review system were launched.
