History, Aims and Scope

Journal of Audio-visual Meida and Technologies, which has been established for 33 years, underwent a name change in May 2024, officially becoming Asian Broadcasting & New Media Research (ABNMR) in response to emerging trends in media and technology research.

Founded in July 1992, Journal of Audio-visual Meida and Technologies is a biannual academic publication issued by the Department of Radio and Television at National Chengchi University, Taiwan. It is edited and distributed by faculty members of the department, along with an editorial committee comprising domestic and international experts, responsible for editing and distribution. In order to enhance academic research in the fields of broadcasting, television, and new media, and to facilitate the exchange of practical experience, the journal has been openly soliciting Chinese-language submissions since 1991. Following a rigorous anonymous peer review process, it periodically publishes highly regarded and representative publications in the field of broadcasting, television, and new media, allowing scholars and experts to share their innovative or in-depth research results with the public.

In late 2019, the newly appointed editor-in-chief, Professor Trisha T.-C. Lin, carried out a repositioning of the journal and a website redesign, changing the journal's English name to Journal of Audio-visual Media and Technologies to emphasize the importance of new media technology. It also recruited a team of domestic and international communication scholars to join the new editorial team and openly accept submissions of papers in both Chinese and English. Since the National Central Library awarded the "Taiwan Academic Resources Influence" award, Journal of Audio-visual Meida and Technologies has consecutively ranked third in the Communication Field for the Long-Term Knowledge Communication Award in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Additionally, it ranked fifth in the Communication Field for the Journal Instant Communication Award in 2020, making it a long-standing and reputable journal.

Asian Broadcasting & New Media Research strictly follows international academic norms with an austere blind-reviewed process. We welcome original submissions of academic articles, book reviews related to radio, television, film, video, telecommunication and new media in both Chinese and English, as long as they have not been previously published in other academic journals.
